For example, he wrote for Unscene , Fijn Beeldwaren, Fisheye and students from KASK with assignments ranging from music for a quirky animation film to the logo for the “Night of the Proms 2011”. In 2013, the animation film “Norman” (director: Robbe Vervaeke) for which Ruben wrote the score was awarded the prize for “best film debut” at the prestigious Annecy festival. His soundtrack was specifically selected at the International Music Film Festival in Braunschweig (2013 ). In 2014, the Angers International Festival awarded his soundtrack the award for best soundtrack in European short film.
His works have already been played and coached by Dirk Brossé, Geert Soenen and Wim Belaen in the professional orchestral environment. His orchestral works have since been performed several times in England and Germany by leading ensembles.
Museums have also called on Ruben. For the museum of Oudenaarde he provided a separate soundtrack for each room and wrote a matching composite for 3 different 'listening plays'. For STAM Ghent he contributed to the musical interpretation of the performance “100 years ahead”
