I studied Drama Writing and Literary Studies at the Utrecht School of the Arts and Film, Theater and Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the United States, graduating in 1996.

In 2000 I was invited to the Royal Court Theatre in London for the International Residency for Emerging Playwrights where I worked with Harold Pinter, Caryl Churchill, Mark Ravenhill and Martin Crimp. My play Casanova is Tired was performed there at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs.
