Ricky Rijneke's Dutch feature film debut Silent Ones has won two Golden Aphrodites at the 10th Cyprus International Film Festival: for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
The international jury consisted of Hu Xueyang, director – China, Vivek Singhania, producer – India, and George Roberson, producer – Canada.

Silent Ones was previously nominated for the Tiger Award Competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Subsequently, the film was invited to many film festivals around the world. To date, the film has been nominated fifteen times and won eleven international awards, including in New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, and Toronto.

The film tells the story of a young Hungarian woman (Orsi Tóth) who, after her younger brother Isti disappears, sets off aboard a cargo ship to fulfill her promise to him. A surreal trip balancing on the edge of life and death.

Silent Ones was recently released in Dutch cinemas. The film was unanimously praised by the national press.
Silent Ones was included as Best Dutch Film in the Volkskrant Year in Review 2014: “a dreamscape that is unprecedented in Dutch Cinema”.

The film will be released soon on DVD, Blu-Ray, and VOD.
