The short animated film *Melk* by Filip Anthonissen has won the Pardino d'Oro for Best International Short Film at the Locarno Film Festival. The award also immediately makes the film Oscar-eligible via the European Film Awards. Anthonissen wrote and directed the film himself. The story is set in a 19th-century village, where a mother searches for her missing son after he became involved in a drunken incident. The production is by Brecht Van Elslande for Animal Tank. In September, *Melk* will have its North American premiere in the Strange Cuts program at the Toronto Film Festival.
