Barkhad Abdi, known for his Oscar-nominated role in *Captain Phillips*, plays a lead role in *Maalstroom*. The film has just been completed. Jim Deddes and Tenzing Woing complete the cast. *Maalstroom* is a Dutch-Belgian co-production. Teddy Cherim wrote the script and directed the film. Marten van Warmerdam produced the project.
