The interactive VR experience *A Long Goodbye* by Kate Voet and Victor Maes won the Cristal for Best Immersive Work at the Annecy Film Festival, marking the project's tenth award since its world premiere in Venice. The experience follows 72-year-old pianist Ida, who lives with dementia and rediscovers memories through objects and tape shooting made by her husband Daniel, with VR bringing the creators closer to the lived experience of dementia than classical cinema. The production, realized by Emmy Oost for Cassette for timescapes in co-production with Tarantula and Valk Productions, aims to break the taboo surrounding dementia.
