Àlex Lora, whose short film The Masterpiece won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2024 and was subsequently nominated for an Oscar, is working on his new feature film The Fissure, currently in post-production and slated for a festival release in 2026. Co-produced with the Belgian company Scope Pictures, the film follows the young Pol Khaled and explores how the August 17, 2017, attacks, the migration crisis, and the Catalan independence movement fatally intersected. Lora personally knew several young men from the terrorist cell, which explains his commitment to the subject. The cast includes Anna Alarcón, Mourad Ouani, and Alex Brendemühl, along with several newcomers.
