During the panel discussion at the Ostend Film Festival, organized by SABAM, filmmakers shared their experiences adapting books. Peter Krüger, Daniel Lambo, and the duo of Bavo Defurne and Yves Verbraeken discussed the challenges of adapting literature to film. Krüger emphasized his collaboration with writer Ben Okri on "The Age of Magic," while Lambo focused on children in "School of Thieves." Defurne and Verbraeken had a good relationship with Tom Lanoye but gave the writer some space for "Kartonnen Dozen." The panel also discussed the difficulties of film financing.
