The documentary "Mariinka," by director Pieter-Jan De Pue, who spent nine years developing the story of four orphans in eastern Ukraine, will world premiere at the CPH:DOX festivals in Copenhagen and Docville in Leuven in March 2026. The film, which begins before the Russian invasion in 2022, uses family videos and letters to reconstruct the characters' childhoods. De Pue shows both the harsh realities of war and moments of beauty. "Mariinka" is hailed as one of the best documentaries about Ukraine.
